Christmas in DC

Happy Holidays everyone! 2021 has been a roller coaster, and for anyone that’s come by this year, we’re honored to have been a part of it for you. While your family is in town for this holiday season, are you looking for fun adventures to keep your family entertained? After you stop by the best escape room in the DC area, do you need something else to do while the kids are in town for vacation? Look no further! Here’s a list of some other fun things in the area we recommend this holiday season.

The National Christmas Tree

If you’re in DC near the monuments, the National Christmas Tree is a beloved holiday tradition that dates back 90 years. On the Ellipse near the White House South Lawn, this large Christmas tree (surrounded by smaller trees for each state) will be on display through January 1st.

The Winternational Marketplace

For nine years, the International Trade Center hosts a winter marketplace to showcase beautiful, vibrant cultures in DC. The marketplace features handcrafted arts, jewelry, crafts, and the like, and is put on by the Embassy. For the second year in a row, the Winternational Marketplace has an online market you can find here.

Mount Vernon

A few miles south of us, the home of our nation’s first president is a must-see if you’re visiting the area. The historically preserved estate is beautiful, there’s plenty of educational information for the family, and there’s a historical village with even more educational value. Mount Vernon is hosting a few holiday-related events so be sure to check them out!

ARTECHOUSE

If you’re into immersive escape rooms, you might be down for what ARTECHOUSE has to offer: immersive art installations, and cocktails to boot. They have an exhibit that runs through January 2nd, so check it out while you’re here for the holidays!

Smithsonian Museums

Speaking of art, there’s plenty of great museums you can visit for free! The Air and Space Museum has some holiday programming, and the Art Museum has some excellent glass-related exhibits through March.

Sports Games

If you’re into Sports, DC is a great city for you. The 2018 Stanley Cup winning Washington Capitals play the Ottawa Senators on the 27th and the Nashville Predators on the 29th, right here at Capital One Arena in Chinatown - go grab my favorite ramen spot down the street, Bantam King, before heading to the game. If instead you’re into basketball, the Washington Wizards have home games against the 76ers on the 26th, the Cavaliers on the 30th, the Chicago Bulls January 1st, the Hornets on the 3rd, and the Rockets on the 5th. The Wizards also play at Capital One Arena, so definitely get some Bantam King before watching the Wizards lose to the Rockets. (Editor’s note: The author of this blog post is in no way biased towards the Rockets).

With that being said, happy holidays! We’re taking the 24th and the 25th off to spend some time with our loved ones this holiday season, and we hope y’all do as well. If you’re looking for fun things to do with the whole family during this holiday season while everyone’s still in town, look no further than the best escape room in Arlington! We’ve also got all of your hosting needs for your work Christmas party or holiday get-together needs. Happy holidays, and happy 2022!
